Biography

Christine D’Addario is an American artist living and painting in the heart of Long Island’s Gold Coast, Locust Valley, NY. She started painting with oils at the very young age of five and attended The College of Saint Rose, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She is married to her loving husband Michael D’Addario and has three beautiful daughters. Christine worked as Art Director for the family owned world class music accessories brand D’Addario & Company, Inc. but after giving birth to her twin girls she was inspired to transition into her true passion of fine art.

Christine is a member of the historic Salmagundi Art Club in New York City where she exhibits her work in their state of the art Greenwich Village brownstone galleries. At the Salmagundi Art Club she was selected to serve as a Juror of Exhibitions and her artwork was accepted in the very prestigious “Master’s Exhibition.” She has also been featured in shows at the Chrysalis Gallery in Southampton, NY and was recognized as one of the top International Contemporary Artists around the world.

Her award-winning figurative and coastal scenes are full of vibrate color, energetic brush strokes and transparent layers to express luminous light. Living on Long Island, Christine has a deep appreciation for the beautiful and fleeting beach going season. The goal of her work is to convey the alluring character of Long Island’s East End by capturing the essence and peace that comes from a long summer day spent at the beach.

Her art is inspired by the masterworks of William Merrit Chase, Edward Potthast, Henry Benson, and Joaquín Sorolla. Other influences include contemporary artists Don Demers, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Marcia Burtt, and her mentor Howard Rose.

She continually seeks to refine her skills and expand her knowledge by attending workshops with national, and internationally recognized artists. While partaking in American Impressionist John Traynors’ New York City workshop, John personally recruited her to become a Member of the legendary Salmagundi Art Club. Other noteworthy workshops were led by American Master Quang Ho, and California artists Peggi Kroll Roberts and Scott Hamill. Her most memorable painting experience was with artist Andrew Petrov in France. Where she had the wondrous opportunity to paint plein air in Monet’s magnificent gardens at Giverny.

Her affiliations include the Nassau County Museum of Art, Guild Hall of East Hampton, Oil Painters of America, and others. Christine served on the Board of Directors at the Art League of Long Island, where she participated in monthly meetings to oversea progress and growth. She also devoted her time to demonstrate painting and had involvement with planning the development of Long Island’s most extensive art library, much of which was donated by benefactor Mrs. Lorraine Grace.

It is rewarding for Christine to show her support to charities by designing custom print materials and donating her paintings for auctions and events. She was Chief Designer & Journal Chairperson for the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer, working directly on the charities cornerstone journal that raised over $70k for the cause. Her designs also represent the D’Addario Foundation Concert Series at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall. The D’Addario Foundation is a non-profit grant-making organization which promotes music education to communities in need throughout
the world.

Christine sits on the D’Addario Family Business Owners Council and meets with them quarterly. She feels it is very important to be involved with the business and is a founding member of the New Business Development Committee. She is a strong believer of entrepreneurial pursuits and started up her own company D’Addario Designs LLC. in 2015. Her business encompasses her graphic design and fine art work.

Her other accomplishments include performing as a young musician in multiple piano concerts at Steinway Hall and Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall. She encourages her children to play music and fosters their strong interests in drawing and painting. Christine is also a world traveler who enjoys new countries and trying adventurous activities such as zip lining, hot air ballooning, kayaking, snorkeling, helicoptering and parasailing. She spends time in New York City with friends and colleagues visiting museums and squeezing in as many cultural experiences as possible in between picking up the kids from school and volunteering as class mom. Her favorite season is summer because it is always spent close to the water. Dividing family time between her parents boat in Port Washington and her in-laws home in Southampton. She is also an animal lover and recently adopted a kitten at the Cove Animal Rescue. This constant juggling of lifestyle would overwhelm most but surprisingly this all helps to spark Christine’s imagination and gives her a fresh point of view on the world and art.

Lastly, she has been commissioned to produce work for private collectors and very much enjoys painting works of young families and joyful children. You may find Christine at any of the various beaches on the East End throughout the summer. She uses her plein air pieces and photographs as inspiration to create her masterpieces late at night when her children are sleeping. She is grateful to have supportive family and friends, along with a elegant studio in their manor home... which happens to be a picturesque five minute walk away from the beach!

Her artwork can be viewed at prominent shows throughout the year.
